CLIENT NEEDS
Raz is a new after-tattoo skincare line founded by Emily Williams who has been a tattoo artist for 15 years. Emily found that the traditionally recommended antibacterial soaps caused over-drying and could be harsh on sensitive skin. This inspired her to develop Raz, which focuses on ingredients that will soothe and moisturize, supporting the skin’s natural healing process. Emily was seeking a brand identity for Raz that highlights their unconventional approach to after-tattoo care and steers clear of the “hardcore” tattoo cliches.
CONCEPT
The company is named after Emily’s aunt, who played an influential role in encouraging her to pursue a career as a tattoo artist. The brand identity draws from the company’s origin story of Raz with a unique brand mark, unconventional colors, and imagery that celebrates the diversity in people who receive tattoos. The logo takes a modern approach to black letter, bringing buoyancy and fun to the brand.
